Show TWA Honored by American Legion Local officers of the Cedar City branch of the American Legion presented ' Cedar City Manager LaMar Snyder and Las Vegas General Manager Thomas Mace of TWA, concessions in local national parks, with the Legion's National Employment Award for 1978. The company was chosen from throughout all businesses in Utah for the award because of its outstanding record in hiring the handicapped and veterans. Milton Sevy, Service Officer of the local American Legion Post, said that the 15 percent employment rate of handicapped persons and 37 percent employment rate of veterans for the company has been quite "constant" over the past several years. He said that TWA works with Job Service, the Salvation Army, and the Utah State Division of Rehabilitation in recruiting workers for the national parks. He said that the company feels that these workers are often more dependable and do a better job than most other employees, and that these hiring practices are the policy of the company. Svy explained the selection process "The American Legion presents one in an award in every state in the natiun. The nominations are sent in from the local chapters and a committee on the tate level makes the decision. The national award comes but of Washington DC. ' Sevy and Cedar City post Commander Com-mander Alvin Hansen presented the award to the, TWA officials. |
