Show Elementary Students participate in poster contest for S1JSC play ! Senic background for the 1 Southern Utah State College production of "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown,'; May 17 through 20, will be provided by a student in one cf Cedar City's elementary schools a the result of a contest sponsor- ed by the SUSC Drama Department, De-partment, it was announced by Fred C. "The interest in this contest has been overwhelming," over-whelming," Mr. Adams said. The spring quarter drama production is based on Charles Char-les Schultz' prize-winning cartoon car-toon characters in the "Peanuts" "Pea-nuts" comic rtr'p. Mr. Adams, Gary Mclntyre, SUSC technical techni-cal director, and Charlie Brown cast members devised the idea of having children design the setting for the whimsical play about the life and trials cf the repeatedly defeated, but over hopeful, Charlie. Motifs submitted to dale range from vivid surrealistic impressions cf fantastic locations, lo-cations, to placid pastoral scenes featuring animals, trees, and f lowers. Some cf the drawings show- birds cf various species soaring ever rcif.fr sps and through clouds. 'This is undoubtedly the influence in-fluence of spring," Mr. Adams sa'd. Most of the set designs have been drawn with crayons, but seme are done in pastels through the use of watercolors or colored pencils. First place winner in the contest will receive a professional profes-sional artists' kit and serve as a technical consultant for the stage backdrop. The first five runners-up will receive $1 each. All of the designs will be displayed in the auditorium auditor-ium foyer during the run of the play, Mr. Adams, said. Cast members for the play include Richard Johnson, Summit, Sum-mit, Iron County; Stephen Roth, Marysville, Piute County; Coun-ty; Kent Nelson, West Covina, Calif.; Lou Weaver, Salt Lake City; Frank Adkins, Coalville, and Karen Keyte, Spanish Fork.
