Show Tree planting on SUSC campus to celebrate school's anniversary ed, Miss Felix said. The B-Day Committee is working with Sheldon Grant, superintendent of grounds at SUSC, and his staff to select sites for tree planting and to complete the project. "One reason we chose not to clean the grounds this year is because be-cause Mr. Grant and his crew keep the campus looking so beautiful all the time," Miss Felix said. "We want to do everything ev-erything we can to keep It that way and make it even more beautiful." A tree will be planted during dur-ing the nest two weeks on the Southern Utah State College campus for each year of the college existence, it was announced an-nounced by Eozan Felix, Ce dar City, chairman of B-Day activities at SUSC. In . years . past students and faculty have devoted de-voted a day to campus ipro-1ects ipro-1ects such as cleaning of grounds and installation of sidewalks, benches, and other Improvement features. Mis' Felix said the tree planting oroject was selected this year as a fitting observance of thf college anniversary. SUSC was founded in 1897 by the first Utah Legislature. Classes began on the camipu? in 1898 following construction of Old Main, the first build ing of some 35 which now do the college grounds. Trees to be planted on B-Day B-Day will include the Blue Sioruce, a variety which wa "tarted on the campus more than 50 years ago by William W. Flanigan, first custodian and caretaker of the college when it was known as Branch Normal School. The trip to the mountains to secure the tree? will be in keeping, but not |
