One of the reasons for the success of the Sugar Loaf is its fine chefs, according to Atkin. Two chef's at the Cedar City location have a combined 40 years experience, he indicated. indi-cated. They include James M. Barton Bar-ton and Larry Beacham. Barton was born and raised in southern Utah and has spent 30 years in the food service ser-vice profession. He has worked as Fry Cook, dinner cook and chef in many of the restaurants restaur-ants in southern Utah. Atkins pointed out that Barton has had years of special training in the preparation of exotic foods, and is highly regarded for his excellence in staging banquets and buffets, which will be featured in the new facilities. Beacham is also a life-long resident of southern Utah. He began with Sugar Loaf nine years ago in the capacity of kitchen helpeter. He advanced from that point to the position posi-tion of chef at the age of 21. Beacham moved to Cedar City with the opening of the Cedar City cafe in April 1965. |
