Show Pony Express Race at County Fair to carry $1000 purse Norman Evans, who has again been named as chairman chair-man of the committee to arrange ar-range for the Pony Express Race held each year in connection con-nection with the County Fair, announces that the purse for this year's race has been set at $1,000, with entrance fees added. Evans states that individuals individ-uals or groups who would like to enter teams in this year's event, may get in touch with 1 him in Parowan, or Kenneth Wade in Cedar City or Harry Randall at Enterprise. The Pony Express Race will be run at the Parowan race track on Monday, Sept. 1 (Labor (La-bor Day), at 1 p. m. and Mr. Evans lists the following rules and regulations governing the big race: Teams will consist of five horses, with an entrance fee of $25 or $5 per horse. Each horse will run two miles, or four time around the track. All riders must weigh at least 160 pounds and be at least 16 years of ago. This race is one of three big races held each year in connection with the Iron County Fair, to be held Saturday, Sat-urday, Sunday and Monday, Aug. 30 and 31, and Sept. 1, in Parowan, with racing cards to be run on Saturday and Monday Mon-day afternoon. |
