Show Arctic Circle tumbles Jaycees from undefeated list 15-1. Against Jones Motor the Lions Li-ons did most of the damage in the first inning of play pushing over 10 runs on six hits, then coasted on for tlu win. Sage White and E. J. Cor-ry Cor-ry shared the mound honors. White was also the leading hitter pounding out three hits in four times at bat including a double. Kevin Jorus suffered the loss. It was White and Corry a-gain a-gain on the mound for the victory over Elks. The game, although one sided, was called after five innings owing to rain. Mike Cardon was the big hitter of the day with 3 for 4 including a- home run. Sev-en Sev-en of Lions runs came in the fifth frame. On the mound' for the losers were Bobby Piatt and Jeff Paddock. In the only other girae of the week it was Jaycees belting belt-ing Jones Motor by a score of 11 to 2. Jaycees put on a relentless re-lentless attack scoring in every ev-ery inning but the sixth. Kevin Kev-in Averett was the winning pitcher giving up only four liit.s and collecting nine strike, outs in posting the victory. Boyd Cowley was on the mound for Jones Motor. The National Little League will wind up their first half of play next Tuesday evening with the big battle of the week scheduled this evening, Thursday, when Lions anil Jaycees meet. Arctic Circle pushed in three runs in the fourth inning in-ning of play to break a 2-2 deadlock, then held on to pick up the win. Steve Jenson and Fred Wright handled the mound chores for the victors. On the mound for the losers were Mike Hair and Kevin Averett. Both teams were held to just three hits in the contest. Lions in the mean time made a strong move toward first place by picking up a pair of victories in the week. First they knocked off Jones Motor by a score of 11 to 3 then came back Monday night to take the Elks by a score of |
