Show County DUP groups meet here, name new officers Tile County Convention of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Pion-eers was held on Saturday, June 14 at the Old Rock Church here. A large crowd was on hand to enjoy the afternoon af-ternoon with a program and an election of officers being held. Officers named and installed install-ed to head the county organ-zation organ-zation for the coming year were Mrs. Fae N. Benson as captain; Mrs. Delia Guymon, 1 first vice president; Mrs. Ethel Eth-el Bayles, s-econd vice president; presi-dent; Mrs. Gladys Benson, as secretary and treasurer; Mrs. Jean Ilendrickson, historian, and Mrs. Mary B. Orton, registrar. regis-trar. Other officers will be named at a later date. Mrs. Sylvia M. Jones of Cedar Ce-dar City, is the retiring head of the organization, and other officers, who have served with her during the year include Mrs. Ellen Jensen, 1st vice pre-dent; pre-dent; Mrs. Thelma Higbtt, , second vice president; Mrs. Loretta Perry, secretary; Mrs. Ila Bauer, historian, and Mrs. Mary B. Orton, registrar The program held as a part of the convention consisted of the following: Community singing followingg by singing followed by the pledge of Allegiance, as Saturday was Flag Day.. Numbers were played by the harmonica band from the Cedar City camps; two numbers by a ladies quartet quar-tet consisting of Jackie Rob-1 inson, Janet Jones, Merna I Mitchell and Katrine Johnson accompanied by Itha Morten-sen, Morten-sen, and Berta Winter and Mary Robb furnished several numbers on the piano and harmonica. Refreshments were served to those present at the conclusion con-clusion of the program. |
