Show May Storm Increase Runoff Estimates On Colorado River Stormy May woathor in the Upper Colorado River Basin Bias somewhat improved estimates esti-mates of runoff into the Basin's Ba-sin's reservoirs, it was announced an-nounced today by the Bureau of Reclamation. The April-July runoff is now expected to reach a total of 5.7 million J acre-feet at Lees Ferry, up 600,000 acre-feet from the pre-' Miction made May 1. Lake Mead levels may drop about six feet by fall of this year, but recovery to present levels by next spring is expected. ex-pected. Lake Powell behind Glen Canyon Dam is now expected to reach about elevtion 3,532 by late June or early July. It will then contain 8.6 million acre-feet of storage. The decline de-cline in lake level from then until the seasonal minimum in February or March should be from 6 to 8 vertical feet. |
