Show Ross Benson Dies, In Reno; Buried in Parowan G. Ross Benson, 64, of Reno, Nevada, a native of Parowan, died Friday, June 9 in a Reno hospital following a long illness. ill-ness. Funeral services were conducted for Mr. Benson in a Reno mortuary Saturday and his body was brought to Parowan Par-owan for further services and burial on Tuesday. Reed Orton of the Third Ward bishopric conducted the services here and speaker was Howard Joseph, with Hulda Hulet giving the reading, "Crossing The Bar". The family prayer at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Winter, was by Karl Mitchell. Charles F. Bentley gave the invocation, Herman E. Bayles the benediction, and the grave in the city cemetery was dedicated ded-icated by Mario Topham. A double mixed quartet, consisting of Mr. and Mrs. W. Clair Rowley, Mr. and Mrs. Karl Mitchell, Mr. and Mrs. Rulan Dalton, and Bertrude Mitchell, sang two numbers, "Jesus, Lover of My Soul" and "Look, Look, to the Comfortor" and a ladies quartet, Janet Jones, Katrine Johnson, Myrna Mitchell and Jackie Robinson, sang the song, "Sing Me to Sleep." Mrs. Itha Mortensen was at the piano. Mr. Benson was born in Parowan Par-owan Nov. 8, 1902, a son of George and Gwen Mitchell Benson, and resided here until un-til his marriage. He was married mar-ried to May Bauer of Cedar City Mar. 21, 1925 in Parowan and they moved to McGill, Nev. He was employed there for 30 years by the Kennecott Copper Co. in the company store. Ten years ago they moved mov-ed to Reno where he owned and operated his own business, busi-ness, the Save-More Store. Surviving are his widow, a son, George H. Benson, and a granddaughter of Sacramento, Calif, and one sister, . Mrs. J. L. (Berta) Winter, Parowan. |
