Show - ..I , i- KENT HOYT AT UPOA CONFAB Hoyt Named President Of Chief's Assn. Kent Hoyt, Cedar City Chief of Police for the past five years, was named president of the Utah Chiefs of Police Association and a member of the Board of Directors of the Utah Peace Officer's Association Associa-tion at the convention of the UPOA held in Cedar City last week. Gary Iverson, officer with the Utah Fish and Game Department De-partment assigned to the southern Regional office in Cedar City, was also named to the Board of Directors of the UPOA. The convention activities drew over 350 officers and wives from throughout the state and the event was deemed deem-ed a complete success by those in charge and by delegates alike. The confab, 45th in the association's as-sociation's history, was hosted by the Cedar City Police Department. De-partment. . Robert Johnson, lieutenant with the Salt Lake City Police Pol-ice Department, was named president of the state-wide association for the coming year. Hoyt succeeds Gus Anderson of Bountiful as head of the Chief's Association. Hoyt has 11 years of law enforcement experience, five of which have been served as Chief of Police of Cedar City. Outstanding speakers and competition highlighted the convention activities. Pistol shoots were staged on the just rennovated ranges north of Cedar City, and Sherill Davis of the College of Southern Utah provided cater service for the event. |
