Show Heart Attack Claims A. Clark Orton I Albert Clark Orton, 78, pro minent livestock man and farmer far-mer of Parowan, died at his home early June 8, from a heart attack after being hit ty the fatal seizure a short time earlier. Funeral services were held for Mr. Orton at 3 P. M. Monday Mon-day in the Parowan Third Ward chapel, with Bishop Verl E. Taylor conducting, and Itha M. Mortensen at the organ for prelude and postlude music. A life history of the deceased deceas-ed was given by Huldah Hulet and speaker was Jay Don Alger Al-ger with remarks by the bishop bish-op Taylor. Howard Ward offered offer-ed the prayer at the home, the opening prayer was by S. M. Clark, the closing one by Roosevelt Gubler and the grave was dedicated by J. Harold Har-old Mitchell. Musical numbers included two songs by a double mixed quartet, "Not Now, But in the Coming Years", and "Now the Day Is Over" and a vocal solo, "The End of a Perfect Day," by Howard D. Knight, accompanied accom-panied by Ruth Ann Knight. Members of the quartet were Mr. and Mrs. Clair Rowley, Mr. and Mrs. Rulan Dalton, Mr. and Mrs. Karl Mitchell Ber-trude Ber-trude Mitchell and Verl Taylor, Tay-lor, with Itha Mortensen at the Piano. Pallbearers were grandsons, Albert, Steven and Wells Orton, Or-ton, Maynard Small, George Williams and Kenneth Robinson Robin-son and flowers were in charge of granddaughters, Li-na Li-na Sue Robinson, Carol Ann Mercer and Diana Orton. I The deceased was born in Parowan on Aug. 1, 1888, to Albert Holmes and Mary Eliz-H Eliz-H abeth Clark Orton, and has resided here all of his life, engaging in the livestock and farming business. He was working each day at his farm in Parowan Valley up to the time of his passing. He was married to Minnie Catherine Laub, Dec. 23, 1909, I in Salt Lake City and the mar- Tiage was solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple. His wife died April 19, 1966. Survivors include the follow-low follow-low sons and daughters: Clark L., Paragonah; Reed L., Worth L,., Hal L, and Mrs. D (Ola), Robinson, Parowan; Eldon L., Kearns, Utah; Mrs. George (Phyllis) Clay tor, Riverside, Calif.; Mrs. Steve (Vera) Ma-thes, Ma-thes, Paso Robles, Calif.; Mrs. Jack (Carma) Mathes, San Bernardino, Calif.; 29 grandchildren grand-children and 7 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are the following sisters: Mrs. La-verne La-verne Boothe, Mrs. Evelyn Benson, and Mrs. Dorothy Blackburn, all of Salt Lake City. |
