Show Shakespearean Festival Activities Geared For Season's Opening Cedar City will soon take on the appearance of a festival community as Elizabethan motifs are installed on the main streets and townspeople don Shakespearean wearing apparel in recognition of the sixth annual Utah Shakespearean Shakes-pearean Festival July 13-Aug. 5 on the College of Southern Utah campus. More than 30 store clerks have purchased fabrics and had Shakespearean costumes constructed by members of the Festival costume department. Mary Judd, Sparks, Nev., assistant as-sistant costumer, has been in charge of the project. Each outfit is distinctively different. The attire will be worn throughout the festival season. sea-son. The 35-member Festival company of actors and technicians techni-cians has begun work on the three plays to be produced in nightly rotation through the 21 -performance season. This year playgoers will see "Comedy of Errors," "Hamlet," and "The Tempest." The platform for the 12-ton tiring house has been completed com-pleted and is ready for the imposing superstructure simulating sim-ulating the play setting of Shakespeare's day. Advance ticket sales indicate indi-cate a ton attendance record for the Festival, which last year played to 7500 patrons during its three-weeks run. |
