Show Governor Rampton Meets With Community Leaders Governor Calvin Rampton spent Tuesday afternoon and evening in Cedar City on his tour of Southern Utah for fact finding information. His stop in Cedar City was under the direction of the Iff I figM n (I Cedar City Council and included includ-ed a meeting with the council coun-cil and interested citizens, and a dinner meeting Tuesday evening. The Governor has annually made such a tour in an attempt at-tempt to assertain information regarding various areas of the state, their problems, and their needs as it applies to the state. In meeting with the city these matters were taken under un-der consideration and discussions discus-sions were held. The Governor reviewed with Cedar City officials of-ficials the Iron Mission Park program now underway. The Dixie Project and its status was discussed and a matter of the needs of small, rapidly growing communities for finance. fin-ance. The Governor indicated that he would take those needs into consideration for proposed legislation to help meet the financial needs drawing from possible other funds than the state property tax. Two other groups requested an audience with the Governor. Gover-nor. Carol Brown of Cedar City inquired of the Governor of a need for a boat launching facility on Lake Powell on the Utah side. The Governor indicated to him that the. state is possibly preparing to work for such a facility. A group of citizens from 1400 West Street also met with the Governor in regard to Interstate Inter-state Highway construction in their area. Governor Rampton indicated to the delegation that they would be given an opportunity at a hearing to express their views concerning concern-ing their particular problem. In the evening, various civic leaders, school administrators, and representatives of the Iron County Commission met in an informal luncheon with the Governor and his party. GOV. CALVIN RAMPTON |
