V l;T : is Officers of t!ie Sigma Tau Sigma Sig-ma honorary scholastic society, Kurnest Carey, Joan Skinner, I.inda Walerd, and Gayle Ksplin, planned the party for society .j..-s which was held Dec. 2! iter a supper of hot dogs I and all the trimmings, new mem-ti-iy of the tutoring group were given the oath of membership by president Carey. Thirty old and new members were on hand for the occassion which was climax-1 climax-1 by entertainment in the form of silent movies featuring Laural and Hardy in "The Tars," and visiting around the fireplace. New members who took the oath that evening pledged them-iulves them-iulves to serve CSU students who needed special tutoring. The Sigma Tau Sigma group have .l:et their goals to improve academic aca-demic standards at CSU. Those asked to join the society must have maintained a near straight "A" average. Mr. Carey read the by-laws to the group which stated that they would serve when called on, but which also stated that members would not bo expected to tutor the first week of any quarter nor the two weeks preceding finals. He also read a clause stating that Sigma Tau Sigma members would be given a probation quarter if their grade-point average should ever bo under the requirement expected expect-ed of the society. dividual Awards this past week.
