Show Parowan Rams Lose Games to Open Basketball Season The junior studded Parowan High School basketball team inaugurated in-augurated its practice season last week and dropped both of its opening games by close scores, i the opener on Thursday night to I Enterprise at that place and then ' the first home game, with Hurricane Hurri-cane on Saturday night. Coach Chas. Brinkerhoff's boys were defeated at Enterprise by a 57 to 52 score after leading during dur-ing the opening half and finally falling to some hot shooting by the home team as the second half got underway The Rams led 14 to 12 at the end of the first quarter, and 25 to 23 at halftime. With the opening of the second sec-ond half the Wolves ran up 10 straight points to take a 40 to 35 lead, which they maintained the rest of the way. But the Parowan Par-owan team really lost the game from the foul line, outscoring the home team from the field. They could get only three out of 14 tries from the foul line while Enterprise was geting 15 out of 22 tries. Larry Smith led the Ram scoring scor-ing with 19 points, with Mike Hu-let Hu-let getting 12 and Glen Robinson 10. In the Saturday night game with the Hurricane Tigers on the Parowan floor, the Rams took an early lead which they held well into the game but finally bowed to the bigger and stronger and more experienced crew from down south, 54 to 49. The Rams trailed by 2, 25 to 23 at halftime. In this game Robinson was the high scorer with 23 points, whiile Smith, high against Enterprise got only nine. Coach Brinkerhoff states thai are in the majority, are coming his squad, which is young and inexperienced, is coming along very well, with the juniors, whe are in the majority on the team looking better in each contest and practice session. This week's schedule calls for Parowan to meet the Juab High of Nephi here tonight, Thursday and then travel to Orderville for a game with Valley High Friday Fri-day night. On Thursday night the Rams and Wasps of Juab will play two split squad games with members of the junior varsity var-sity squads to see action in the opening contest at 6:15. The following week schedule has Parowan at Cedar on Wednesday Wed-nesday night and then going to Richfield for a game on Saturday Satur-day night. |
