Show !Mes from Parowan High School High School Paper Gets New Name, Ideas Within the past few years the name of the Parowan High! School newspaper has been changed as well as its customs. The old ideas for articles were simply too old; hence, it was time for improvement. The first change came with the staff members. It had been the tradition up to 1965 to have a reporter from each grade and organization, who would report what was happening in their respective groups. But this system sys-tem was very undesirable because be-cause in such a small school, news of that type was old before it was ever printed. Credit for the change from tradition tra-dition goes to Mary Louise Robinson, Rob-inson, the 1965-66 editor, who in- stead, formed a staff of three ' very qualified reporters and two typists. This system worked very nicely because the entire staff had one hour a day to work together. to-gether. But, new problems came up this year when all those qualified qual-ified to be reporters were unable to get a free period to work on their reports. Solution: The Tel-A-Rama editors appointed a very capable reporter from each grade and each week they are assigned i articles such as: Student of the! week (an honor given to out- j standing students), sports stor-' ies, feature stories, announcements, announce-ments, editorials and news. J We have found thus far that the Tel-A-Rama has been accepted accept-ed a lot better by the student body because of these changes. There are quite a few advantages advan-tages to this new arrangement, one being that it is very good training for the reporters, and will make the selection of up-and-coming editors much easier. The Tel-A-Rama has set a goal for this year which is to print the name of every student in the paper. Also, in the near future, we plan to start a radio progrom on KSUB to inform the listening public of activities at Parowan High. The Tel-A-Rama staff is as follows: Andrea Adams, editor; Ginger Robb, co-editor; Cheryl Stubbs art editor; Sherry Dalton Ramette reporter; Jerry Robinson, FFA reporter; re-porter; Carlyle Gurr, D.E.C.A. reporter; re-porter; JoAnne Evans, 12; Chaun-cey Chaun-cey Adams, 11th; April Rollins, tenth; Christine Knight, ninth; Sheri Price, eighth; Metty Jane Robinson, seventh, and Miss Joan Decker, advisor. |
