Show Mrs. Lona Watson Assits With Program Mrs. Lona Watson recently re-cently returned from Salt Lake City where she had spent several days. Part of that time, Mrs. Watson was engaged in service to the American Legion. She assisted as-sisted other auxiliary workers at the Veterans Hospital at Fort Douglas in helping veterans select gifts for their families' Christmas. All gifts had been donated by the 90 auxiliary units throughout Utah, and all gifts selected by veterans were free of charge. Mrs. Watson stated that a special room was designated as the gift shop and that all veterans veter-ans who were able came up to the shop to make selections while a service cart with a variety of presents was wheeled to the rooms for those who were confined con-fined to bed. She also said that carts of gifts were taken to the new World War I Veterans' Home in Salt Lake City where veterans made selections. The gifts are wrapped and mailed through the courtesy of the auxiliary members. Gifts have been sent to all parts of the United States as veterans in Utah hospitals are from many different states. Mrs. Watson was Utah State Auxiliary President when the Gift Shop began and has helped stimulate the project in Cedar City. This year she and Mrs. Jennie Winterrose were co-chairmen. |
