Show City Council Hires Meter Maid. Takes Action on Traffic Problems on 800 West Street which would indicate a dead end on the south. A call for bids providing general gen-eral liability insurance for Cedar City Corporation was authorized by the council. The official call tor bids appears in this issue of vhe Record. i Cedar City Council accepted the application of Mrs. Dave (Ellen (El-len T.) Jensen to serve as the city's first Meter Maid in action of the council Thursday, Nov. 30. Mrs. Jensen was one of six who applied for the position. She will begin her duties officially on January 1, 1967, but it is expected ex-pected that she will probably begin training for the position earlier in order that she might assume full responsibility for the position at the beginning of the year. j Action was also taken by the ! council to limit parking on 300 West Street and tentative plans were approved for one-way traffic traf-fic control on College Avenue. 30 Minute Parking Approved was a 30 minute parking limit from 8 a. m. to 4 p. m. on the east side of 300 West Street between Center, Street and 200 South. This ac-1 tion was approved after a study 1 of property owners in the area 1 had been made indicating their ; approval to such a move. Also approved, conditioned upon similar property owner j approval, was the limiting to ' one-way traffic on College Ave. from 100 West Street west to ' 300 West. Mayor Loren Whetten ' indicated that early reports from 1 the property survey in the area j were in favor of this action and : that final action will probably be taken at the next meeting of ' the council. A delegation from Dewey Ave. met with the council concerning traffic and pedestrian traffic near the College of Southern Utah campus. The group was assured ' by the council that they intended intend-ed to meet the commitments of the city ordinances regarding '. property. Meet Requirement? The Mayor indicated that it is anticipated that proper controls, including sidewalk and curb and gutter is expected to be installed in the near future by the owners and operators of an apartment building in question and that CSU officials had also agreed to similar controls on the east side of the avenue adjacent to Thor-ley Thor-ley Music Hall. Futher action concerning traffic traf-fic was also taken when the council agreed to erect a sign |
