Show Seminary Principal Announces Graduation Speaker Aaron Hansen, principal of the Cedar City L D S Seminary, announced an-nounced this week that Dr. West Belnap, director of the undergraduate under-graduate division of religion at the Brigham Young University, had been secured to speak at the Serninary Commencement on Friday, Fri-day, May 18. The commencement exercises wlU be staged in the Cedar Stake House at 7:30 p. m. Approximately Approximate-ly 105 students will receive diplomas di-plomas from the Seminary, he indicated. in-dicated. Dr. Belnap received his Ph.D. from Columbia University in New York City. He is a native of Utah and has served as a member mem-ber of the East Provo Stake Presidency. Pre-sidency. Recently he was named bishop in the new Brigham Young University Stake with students stu-dents at B Y U serving as counselors. coun-selors. Theme of the program will be to bring out the "Meaning of the Seminary Pin." Narrator will be Kay Ashcroft, a student. Talks will be given to explain the meaning as follows: "How Can I Receive Eternal Exaltation?" by Nancy Dix; "Loyalty," by Reed Murdock; "Purity and the Temple," Tem-ple," by Eleanor Grlmshaw; "The Book of Mormon and What It Means' to Me," by Reed Heywood, and "What I Have Obtained from Seminary" by Karen Oldroyd. Welcoming address will be given giv-en by Paul E. Dahl. instructor at the Seminary, and the Invocation will be given by Bevan Corry, and the benediction by Charlotte Perkins, students. . Principal Hansen will present the graduates and Cedar Stake President Elwood J. Corry will award the diplomas. The musical program will Include In-clude two numbers bv the "Al-lenettes" "Al-lenettes" a group of 12 Seminary students'; a number, 'True to the Faith," by a chorus of graduates and a male quartet wiJl sing. The quartet is composed of Michael Mi-chael Frame, Dayne Gardner, Reed Heywood and Jon Isom. |
