Show Vater Courses Good on Local Mountains Surprising as it may seem to many residents of this area water wa-ter courses on Cedar and Paro-wan Paro-wan mountains are above that of last year and in most instances above the past three year levels. It was revealed by Leland Carlson, Carl-son, Iron County Soil Conservation Conserva-tion service man. Figures for May 1 as compared to other years are as follows: Yankee Reservoir: 1956 measurements meas-urements indicated a snow depth of 10.4 inches with a water content con-tent of 4.7 inches. That compares to 1955 figures of 10.8 inches of snow but only 3.8 inches of water. wa-ter. Ed Ward Flat: No measurable snow either year. Ccd-r Erssk:: Ms" 1 Jncsmre-ments Jncsmre-ments here indicated 42.6 inches of snow with 17.3 Inches of water. wa-ter. In 1955 water content was at 12.9 Inches with only 32.5 inches in-ches of snow. In 1954 water was 18.5 and in 1953 it was at the low mark of 9.4 inches'. Midway: 1956 figues are 42.2 for snow and 17.4 inches for water. wa-ter. In 1955 snow depth was 35.1 with a water content of 14.2. 1951 water content was 20.6. Webster's Flat: Here snow dppth was at a low point of 8.1 inches compared to 17.5 Inches in 1955. Water content was also .low with this year's content measured af 3.3 Inches and last year's at 7 inches. At Webster's Flat a rainfa.11 of 2.7 Inches was recorded for hte month of April, Carlson indicated. |
