Show LIVIN' IN THE ESCALANTG VALLEY By Mrs. Jack Moyl The Escalante Valley Women's Club meeting, honoring their 10th anniversary, was held on Thursday. Feb. 21, at the home of Mary Moyle. Hostesses for the evening were Rose A. Moyle and Evalyn Hunt. After business was taken care of the time was turned turn-ed over to the hostesses for the playing of games. Prizes for the evening were won by Corene Ap-plegate Ap-plegate and Jenor Whitelaw. The specialty for the evening was a lovely 10th anniversary cake made and decorated by Edith Hunt, which was served to the guests along with lime freeze and ice cream. The annual Cub Scout Blue and Gold banquet was held on Monday night, Feb. 25 at the Escalante Es-calante Valley school house. This was a birthday party for the cubs celebrating their 47th anniversary. an-niversary. A film was shown by boy scout director Lewis McCIpI-lan. McCIpI-lan. A good crowd of cubs and parents both from the valley and Newcastle attended. Supper was served i" "em of the famous Escalante not luck style. The dance at Modena sponsored sponsor-ed by the Escalante Valley Lions jClub sight committee was well I attended and a great success. The blanket was won by Heber Sevy of Cedar City. McKay Cloward's rural educa. tion class from C S U, which consisted of eight members, visited vis-ited the Escalante Valley school on Tuesday the 2Cth. New plastic lunch trays have arrived for the lunch room. Word has been received by Mr. and Mrs. John C. McGarry that their son, private John M. McGarry, Mc-Garry, has been transferred to Fort McArthur at San Pedro, Cal. John was scheduled to go to school but was later assigned to go right on a Job. Karl Anderson has gone to Hudson, Colo., on business. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Del Vec-chio Vec-chio and daughters Joan, Patsy and Judy returned Sunday from Greenriver, Utah where they have been visiting relatives of Mrs. Del Vecehio. |
