At the regular meeting of the City Council, held Thursday evening, eve-ning, Feb. 21, a number of purchases pur-chases were given a vote of approval ap-proval along with the acceptance of a recommendation for renovation reno-vation of the Right Hand Canyon culinary pipe line, according to Mayor Arnold Anderson. A recommendation by the City Water Board to replace approximately approxi-mately 8,000 feet of pipeline in the area and put the entire line underground was accepted by the council. The expected expenditure expen-diture will be approximately $25,000. The Mayor explained that this money is already available in the water department fund. Specifications for the project are being worked out and the work will be put out for bids in the near future, he stated. Other purchases In the water works department were also giv. en the OK by the council Including Includ-ing the purchase of a combination combina-tion digger and loader at an es-timated es-timated cost of $5,000 to $fi,000 and the purchase of a new dump truck for the department. It was explained that the last major purchase In this department depart-ment was in 1951-52 when the latest dump truck being used by the department was purchas-ed. purchas-ed. These purchases will bring the department's equipment into in-to toD shane. In connection with the Green's Lake Watershed project, for which the city is acting as sponsor, two Important Items of business were completed. First the council gave approval approv-al for the underwriting of the sponsor's share of the project I for the first three or four years. This will amount to nt'proxl-matelv nt'proxl-matelv $13,000 and secondly the council approved the city ns the acting contracting agency for the watershed project. Approval was also given for the painting of the nffires at the city and county building. The painting project Is for offices alone and docs not Include hall, ways and cells, the mayor pointed point-ed out. The council directed the city attorney to draw up a proposed change In the city ordinance to allow the free licensing of seeing eye dogs in the city. Only stipulation stipu-lation will he that dogs must be registered for the protection of the city.
