Show School Stamp Sale Well Received In Elementary Grades t Stamps Day at the Parowan FJ Elementary School is a day of hustle and bustle to get in line to buy stamps. The samps sold s"jj on stamp day are U. S. Savings j Stamps and the program has 5V' grown by leaps and bounds since its beeinnini?. im The day begins at 8:30 each j,' Wednesday morning and (four J, i j stu 'ents from the Fourth grade ' llJ sell stamps and help the young- , 'i er students count out their mon- $ H ey and purchase the right J stamps. J The program has been highly J" ' successful and rewarding for all ' gl, participants. Namely, the teacher : f.: is relieved from the worry of ' counting the money and purchas- f-' Ing new stamps because the , Amercan Legion Auxiliary, which is sponsor of the program, has a representative on hand each i morning to take care of those duties. The fourth graders value the practical experience they are Retting in arithmetic as they , make the change and count out I the stamps: the students them- ( selves are learning thrift, as well ' as checking against the "student postmen. Since starting the stamp pro. gram, seven stamp books have j been filled and exchanged for ! bonds and many more have been 4 expected to come In In the near I future. A total of $438 In stamps has been sold with an average of $29.20 each week. Everyone connected with the 1 program certainly feels that the program is worthwhile.
