Show Softball Association Will Have Go At Three-day Tourney Newly formed Softball Assocla-tibn Assocla-tibn of Cedar City will stage a three-day six-team southern Utah tournament in Cedar City beginning begin-ning today, Thursday, and running run-ning through Saturday evening. Dick Dotson, president of the association, announced that three teams from Cedar City representing represent-ing the top three teams of the recently concluded Cedar Stake softball league, will be vying for the tournament championship against teams from Enterprise, Parowan and Minersville. Pairings for the six team event were made early this week. Opening game will pit the Cedar Ce-dar Third Ward, Cedar Stake champion, against Enterprise. Game is scheduled to begin at 6 p. m. At 7:30 p. m. Cedar First will meet Parowan and the nightcap, set for 9 p. m. will pit the Eighth of Cedar City against Minersville. Two games will be played Fri day and Saturday evenings with game times set at 7 and 8:30 p. m. Friday, the first game will be in the consolation bracket of the tournament with the loser of the Third and Enterprise meeting the loser of the First and Parowan. Paro-wan. Loser of the Minersville and Eighth Ward contest will druw a bye into the consolation championship cham-pionship Saturday evening. In the championship bracket the winner of the Third-Enterprise game will draw a second round bye Into the championship game Saturday evening. Friday's feature game will determine the other championship participants with the winner of the First Par-owan Par-owan game meeting the winner of the opening round game between be-tween Minersville and Eighth. Championship and consolation trophies will be presented at tru conclusion of the tournament and an all-star team and an out standing player will be selectee and softball fobs will be awarded to the recipients. Tournament activities are be ing handled by Dotson, president and Bevan Corry, vice president, of the association. The tournament Is an attempt to revive the outstanding tournaments tour-naments held in recent years. The public Is cordially invited to attend at-tend the games. |
