Show j Queen Contestants To Display Wares In Saturday Contest Nine lovely young ladies of Iron County will vie Saturday evening for the title of Miss Iron County of 1959 and the right to reign over activities of the Iron County Fair set for Sept 5, 6 and 7 at Parowan. The annual contest to determine deter-mine the 1959 queen will be staged in the College of Southern Utah auditorium and will begin at 8 p. m. Public Is cordially invited to attend, according to R. L. Gardner Gard-ner chairman of the affair. Vying for the coveted title will be Helen Decker, Barbara Ann Graff, Kathleen Bess, and Da.--lene Thornton. Paro.ran: Sherry Dawn Evans and Laum Lamnr-1 eaux of Paragonah; Lyd'.a ilarri- son, Escalante Valle? and Ann Sherratt and Merian Andrews of Cedar City. Queen and two attendance will be named at the contest following follow-ing a series of competitive events including appearance in formal attire, a bathing suit and an Interview designed to bring out grace, poise and personality. Judging will be based on beauty beau-ty of face and figure, poise and personality. Winner of the contest will also be entered in the Miss Utah State Fair contest later on in Salt Lake City. In addition the 1959 queen will win a $100 scholarship to College of Southern Utah. Master of ceremonies for the contest will be Eugene Helland, director of bands for the Cedar City schools. Musical entertainment during the evening will be furnished by Ray Doescher and his band and background music throughout the evening will be by Lillis Spencer at the organ. Queen and her attendants will lead the activities of the Iron County Fair and a special float will be prepared for them for the parade to be staged on Labor Day in Parowan. |
