Show Native of Iron County Signed to CSU Post FRED ADAMS Newest staff appointment at College of Southern Utah is Mr. Fred Adams, native of Iron County. Coun-ty. Dr. Royden C Braithwaite, director, di-rector, announced that Mr. Adams will be assigned as instructor in theatre courses and theatre director. di-rector. The new appointment will fill the vacancy left while Prof. Richard Rich-ard Rowley Is studying on a year leave of absence at Stanford University, Palo Alto, Calif. Prof. Rowley will complete work for his doctorate. The new theatre director re-celved re-celved his B. A. degTee in 1955 from Brigham Young University and has completed M. A. work at the same institution. He has also done work at University of UUh and Catholic University, In Washington, D. C. While at the BYU he was the recipient of the Danforth Award and three "best actor" awards for his acting ability. In 1955 he received the senior achievement award and he is a member of the Theta Alpha Phi, national drama honor society. During 1958-59, he served at BYU as assistant Instructor. He served at the LDS Hill Cumorah Pageant In New York State as technical director and assisted in the BYU production "Sand In Their Shoes." During military service 1952-53 he was assigned to Special Services Ser-vices at the Pentagon in Washington, Wash-ington, D. C. where he directed soldier plays for overseas production. pro-duction. Among those plays were Finigan's Rainbow," "Babes .in Arms," and "Canon." While assigned to an LDS mission mis-sion in Finland he organized Little Lit-tle Theatre Groups and worked with the National and Civic Theater The-ater of Finland. Mr. Adams completed com-pleted three months European tour In 1959 observing theatre activities. |
