Show Phone Company Prepares for Holiday Load As in previous years, many Cedar City residents will be say-ing say-ing "Merry Christmas" to relatives rela-tives and friends over long distance dis-tance lines this year. The number num-ber of calls which operators of Mount in States Telephone Com-I pany will handle here on Christmas Christ-mas Day Is expected to be very large, according to Dean Williams, Wil-liams, local manager of the telephone tele-phone company. Knowing how much those Christmas calls mean the telephone tele-phone people will do their best to get the calls through with the least possible delay. "We are preparing for the additional holiday holi-day telephone calls," Mr. Williams Wil-liams said. "Curcuits are being re-arranged and additional ones put into operation. The tele-phone tele-phone operators will be at the switchboards giving us part of their holiday, doing everything they can to get the calls through promptly." Long distance telephone service ser-vice today is faster than ever before; be-fore; however, the heavy holiday holi-day volumes of out-of-town calls may possibly result in delays on some calls to far-away points outside Utah. Mr. Williams sug-gets sug-gets that those who plan to call this Christmas will be assured of getting faster service if they will make their calls before Christmas Christ-mas Eve or after Christmas Day. Long distance rates are lower all day Sunday, Dec. 23, which provides pro-vides a special opportunity to make calls before the holiday rush. Telephone users were also urged to give the operator the telephone number in the distant city being called. If the operator has the number, she can complete com-plete the call much faster. |
