Show Messiah Presentation Merits High Praise The 32nd annual presentation of Georg Friedrich Handel's "The Messiah" was staged at the College of Southern Utah audi torium Sunday evening before a crowd of approximately 800. Directors Blaine Johnson and Roy L. Halversen are to bo commended com-mended on their efforts in again staging the gigantic perfornianot that included some 150 singm and an orchestra of over 50 in this presentation that has come as much a part of the noli day season in Cedar City as San ta Claus and Christmas trees. These directors have also doffed dof-fed their hats to the various organizations or-ganizations and individuals who take the time to practice, and participate in this outstanding work. Included in the choir were the l following organizations: Master Singers, Cedar Stake Choir. High I School and College of Southern Utah Choirs, plus other indlvld-1 indlvld-1 uals. ' The orchestra was composed of members of the C SU and high school orchestras plus a host of residents in the community who I gave of their time and talent to present "The Messiah." Soloists Sunday evening included in-cluded sopranos, Janice Olson. ; Christine Winterrose; altos Or-ma Or-ma Wood and Lureen Limb; ten- 'ors, Herschell Neeley and Wallace Wal-lace Adams, and bassos Howard .Wood and Forrest Hunter. I Loa M. Johnson was accompanist accompa-nist at the presentation and Irene Hyatt accompanist for the high school choir and Gloria Dotson, accompanist for the CSU 'choir, worked with their respect-ive respect-ive organizations In preparing for the event. i The beautiful CSU auditorium auditor-ium with all its outstanding facilities fa-cilities contributed much to the 1 grandeur of the presentation. i - |
