Show Bronco Grid Stalwart ! Named to Juco Team I Dee Smith, outstanding guard for the College of Southern Utah Broncos throughout the past 1956 football season received nation-! al recognition this week when he was selected to the second team of the official National Junior College Athletic Association Associa-tion Ail-American squad. The honor was bestowed upon five members of the Intermoun-tain Intermoun-tain Collegiate Athletic Conference Confer-ence plus one selection to the first team of the NJCAA 22-man squad. George Navkanan, tackle for the Boise Broncos, was plac ed on the first team. Other second team selections were Robert Chappose, Dixie; Amedio Beacco, tackle of Car bond; Tom Carter, tackle of Weber, We-ber, and Joe Schaffeld, tackle of Boise. The list Included 22 first team players and 22 alternates. Each of the 44 selected will receive re-ceive awards from the NJCAA. The Juco All-America squad was selected by the association president. Reed K. Swenson; Juco Ju-co Review Editor, Laurence J. Burton, and Service Bureau Director Di-rector Earle J. Holmes from nominations nom-inations made bv the association's associa-tion's 16 reonal directors. Smith is a former star at the Odar City High School. He served serv-ed a tour of duty In the armed forces and returned to C S U to play under Coach Bruce Osborne. |
