Show Jaycees Announce Rules, Dates Of Home Lighting Contest Judging The home lighting contest, sponsored by the Cedar City Junior Chamber of Commerce will be judged from Saturday, Dec. 22 through Christmas Day, it was announced announc-ed by co-chairmen of the project, Rex Nelson and Kenneth Ken-neth Knight, this week. Those who are decorating their homes this year have been asked to send or take an application notice to the Jaycee offices at 109 North Main to arrive not later than Monday, Dec. 24. at which time final Judging will be made. As in the past the first place winner in the contest will be entered en-tered in a national contest that is conducted each year by General Gener-al Electric. In addition the first place winner will receive a $25 cash prize. Second place will receive a $15.00 prize and a $7.50 prize will go to theVhlrd place In the contest. Same Rules It is expected that judging will be based on the same point system as last year. It is the same point system as used by GE in its national contest This system makes a total of 100 points possible In a computation of four different brackets as follows: fol-lows: 30 points for artistic merit Including design, composition and arrangements of elements, and color scheme; 20 points for originality, Including new Ideas or effects and new ways of using us-ing standard services; 30 points for lighting techniques use of regular Christmas tree lamps, use of spot or flood lamps, use of other lamps and 20 points for Ingenuity in using structure of home, In using surroundings to advantage, in assembling dis-(Continued dis-(Continued on Back Page) Christmas Lighting (Continued from Pa? A team will visit each of the homes submitting application for Judging and will score each home individually and not on a competitive basis. Last year first place was won by Dr. J. S. Prestwlch on South Main Street Second place went to Giles Bolander and third place honors were accorded Alden Heap. It was pointed out by the co-chairmen co-chairmen that in order to participate parti-cipate in the contest residents must submit an application. They suggest mailing in a postcard post-card with the name and address or dropping off the information personally at the Chamber of Commerce office. Announcement of the winners will be published in the Dec. 27 issue of the Record. |
