Show Rams Taste First Defeat of Practice Season The Parowan High School basketball bas-ketball team won its fourth prac tice games of the year last week end, but over the same period the team lost its first start of the year. And ironically this loss was to the snr.ie t?am to which the Rams bowed the last time they were deJ-Kted, the Springville Red Devils, in the second game of last year's Class B State Tournament in the B Y U fieldhouse. In he 'opening round of the second night, the Cedar Redmen won as hey pleased from the Richfield team by a score of 61 to 34 The Cedar Redmen dropped their game to the Springville team Friday night by a 44 to 37 score. In the Parowan Richfield contest con-test Friday evening, the Rams took an early lead and held It all the way with Coach Jones giving all but two of his squad members some valuable playing experience during the game. In the Parowan vs. Springville game the Rams started too slow on the scoring end and midway of the first quarter were trailing by an 8 to 0 score. And with this lead the visiting team, with Its bigger men controlling the bankboards most of the time, were able to hold onto a slim lead during the remainder of the game. After spotting the visitors the eight-point lead the Rams finally final-ly scored five points In the quarter quar-ter while holding their opponents oppon-ents to four points during the same time. In the second period per-iod the Rams scored 15 points to 14 for Richfield, with the half-time half-time score reading 26 to 20. The final period was similar to the third, with Parowan unable to sink shots on a number of occasions that would have tied up the game and the time ran out with the the Springville team, now a member of the Class A ranks winning by the three point margin. |
