Superior results In 4-H Girls' Home Kconomlcs. Knto-mology Knto-mology and Clothing programs, resulted In their brlug selected for this distinction. The parents of Rosemary WanRsard of Huntsvllle are mighty proud of her winning state honors in the 4 H Girls' Home Kconomirg program. Tutting Tut-ting into practice what she learned not only enhanced family living, hut prepared this 16 year old for her role as a honemaker of the future. Rosemary's seven years in 4-H Club work includes a project In borne Improvement. She refln-Islied refln-Islied a net ot shelves, a chair, and u tablo. She also upholstered a chair and made a skirt for her bedroom dressing table. A total of 39 blue ribbons are part of Rosemary's reward for her home Improvement and poultry raising projects. Rosemary also worked in the fields of clothing, canning, frees-Ing. frees-Ing. and rreal preparation. Her three brothers enjoy the play area she arranged for them while working o l her home beautiflca-tlon beautiflca-tlon proJp; t. Loral Club leaders are Rosemary's Rose-mary's Mother. Mra. Mary Wangsgard. and Mra. John Newey. Her Club Congress trip was made possible by Montgomery Montgom-ery Ward. Marlow Mace. 16, of Fillmore not only finds the study of Insects fascinating, but realized the vital role they play In the health, wealth, and happiness of man. Ilia outstanding record In 4-H Entomology was judged best in the state, and for this the Hercules Her-cules 1'owder Co. paid his trip expe rises. A gift of 50 bee colonics enabled en-abled Marlow to embark upon a very profitable and Interesting project. Last year his bees produced pro-duced 78 pounds of honey per colony. Vnder 4-H auHpiies. an International Farm Youth Exchange Ex-change student from India visited Marlow's farm for five weeks to learn beekeeping from him. I'jider the leadership ot his father, William Mace, Marlow engaged In fat beef and breeding sheep project. 4 and also served as vice-president und secretary of his local 4 )1 Club. Sharon Secrlst. 18. ot Ogden U now In her seventh year of 4-H Club work. As state 4-H Clothing winner, she is the guest of Coats and Clark Inc. at the Club Congress. Con-gress. Having a remarkable flair for making clothes. Sharon has completed 18 garments. Included -are a formal gown, a suit, skirt, and Jumper. Sharon made her own high school graduation dress. At the wool growers contest she won a length of hand woven wool, from which she made a suit. She also won a 4-H college scholarship of $250. Her local Club leader Is Mrs. Charlene Mathewson. All these programs are conducted con-ducted under the direction of the Cooperative Extension Service. |
