Show High School Contest Winners Announced Prizes were awarded Wednesday Wednes-day afternoon to three students at the Cedar City High School at the conclusion cf the school paper's Christmas Pot;iTT aru). Story contest Original poems and stories 1 were handed into paper staff j members and entered In the contest con-test that produced some outstanding out-standing work In story and .verse, according to Dennis Colbert. Col-bert. editor of the "Cedar Post." First place winner In the poem division was Mary Ellen Edmunds Ed-munds with her work entitled "The Meaning of Christmaj." Mary Ellen, an energetic junior at the school won the second prize as well with another original orig-inal entitled "The Sentinel Pine." Third place honors were accorded Ada Marie Wood for "The Lord Is Born." In the story contest first place honors were won by Alaine Robb, a junior, for her story "Benji." Joanne Lunt. sophomore, won second place honors with "The Christmas Star," and "The Joyous Sound," by Gaylynn Sher-ratt. Sher-ratt. sophomore, won third place honors. Each of the first plac? winners received $5.00 cash prizes and Miss Lunt, second place winner In the story division won a book, "Golden Nuggets of Thought," First place winners are print-I print-I ed on this page. |
