Show Redmen Lower Boom On Kanab Lads With an average of 19.5 points per quarter the Cedar City Red-men Red-men racked up 78 points against the Kanab Cowboys Friday eve-ing eve-ing for a whopping 78 to 33 victory vic-tory In the final game of the Dixie Division first round of piay-it piay-it gave the Redmen their fourth win against a single loss and undisputed second place in the division. The game was never in question ques-tion as Coach Decker's starting five walked away to a 10 to 0 lead before Boyd "Goonie" Adams' Cowboys could find the bucket. From a 10 to 2 score the Redmen moved to 16 before Thayne Judd of Kanab hit his second bucket and the quartet-ended quartet-ended with the Redmen In lead 24 to 4, a 20 point spread. Starting for the Redmen was Reed Heywood. who did an outstanding out-standing defensive job In holding hold-ing A. D. Flndlay, one of the state's leading scorers, to a single sin-gle point In the first half of play. Other starters for the Red-men Red-men were Neil Petty. Boyd Dover. Dov-er. Sheldon Sargent and Ray Bauer. The second quarter showed the same signs as the first with the defense of the Redmen Stymying Sty-mying the Cowboys completely. By halftime the Redmen held a 45 to 10 lead. Heywood and Sargent Sar-gent led the scoring In the first half, each scoring 12 points, followed fol-lowed by Bauer with 10 counters. In the third quarter the Cow-boys Cow-boys outscored the Redmen with a 14 point splurge led by Steve Peterson who finished the evening eve-ning with 14 points. The Red-men Red-men scored 13 in that frame. Sargent and Bauer tied for high point honors for the evening eve-ning with 16 points each.
