Show C SU Broncos Lose toBoise 72to51:NNC75toB7 The College ofSouthern L'lah Broncos returned home Sunday from a rugged 1200 mile road trip and two defeats to begin preparation for the "Dixie Classic," Clas-sic," Friday and Saturday. At Boise Friday evening Coach Cleo Petts Broncos suffered their first setback in the Inter-mountain Inter-mountain Collegiate Athletic Conference race, falling to the northern rivals, 72 to 51. In that game CSU, although trailing through most of the game, kept pace with the fast shooting Boise crew for about three quarters of the game. At half time CSU was trailing 31 to 26, but brought the score to within two points shortly after the half. Bob Hill, outstanding defensive man for the Broncos left the floor prior pri-or to the half on five personal fouls, and shooting at the lane made a big . difference In the game. Big Nick Panlco, Boise's All-American, All-American, was out of action for the first half and as the Broncos Bron-cos drew up Panico was called in to lead a rally that put the northern foes out In front to stay. Against NNC At Nampa against Northwest Nazarene Saturday evening the Broncos suffered their second defeat, de-feat, 75 to 67, to throw the conference con-ference race into a three-way tie for first Here the Broncos ran into a zone defense, the first of the season, which became a major obstacle to overcome. In the ear. ly part of the game NNC with Tracy and Bob Peppley on the front line, stole a number of Bronco passes to put them out in front. CSU trailed only by two, 36 to 34 at halftlme. Early In the second period with some phenomenal pheno-menal shooting from the foul line,.N N C pulled out into a big lead. Hill and Jerry Frame put on a last minute scoring spree that nearly closed the gap, but was not quite enough. The Crusaders of N N C hit 23 of 27 from the foul line and Gardner, big center for N N C hit 12 in as many attempts from the free lane. He was also high scorer of the evening with 20 points. Both teams scored 26 from the field. Jim Spencer was high man for the Broncos at Nampa with 18, followed by Frame with 16. Eric Clark with 12 and Hill with 10.
