Show Five County Organization Defines Objectives At a well attended meeting of the Five County organization, held in Cedar City Friday, the group took definite action on the matter of opposition to diversion di-version of gasoline tax funds, and of priority on road development develop-ment in the area. The group unanimously adopted adopt-ed a resolution opposing the use of funds raised through the gas-oline gas-oline tax for any other purpose other than construction and maintenance of roads. After some discussion of the matter it was decided that the completion of the Glen Canyon Dam approach road from Kanab to the dam site should be given first consideration by the State I Road Commission and that road should receive first priority In eVery respect. Of second importance to the area, It was decided, would be the proposed highway from Fre-donla Fre-donla to Hurricane by way of Pipe Spring and Short Creek, Arizona. Placed in third priority was Improvement of highways 91 and 89 to more adequately handle the heavy flow of traffic. The five county organization is composed of representatives from Beaver, Iron, Washington, Kane and Garfield Counties. A highlight of the meeting was talk by Norman Brendt, the Utah representative of the Keep America Beautiful Committee. Subject of his discussion was ways of attracting more people from all parts of the country to the scenic areas of southern Utah. |
