Show MOVED FROM CEDAR TO FILLMORE Cedar High Enters Region Ten Wrestling Meet The Cedar City High School wrestling team will leave Saturday Satur-day morning for Fillmore and the Region 10 meet to be hosted by Millard High School. Coach Hal Norton Indicated that his squad of 12 men will weigh in before noon. The first matches will begin at 1 p. m. A tentative roster of 12 men to enter the regional event was listed list-ed by Norton as follows: Garth Bryant. 98; Mel Henrle, 106; Roy Urie. 115; Hal Slack. 123; Lynn Mosdell. 130; Jim Thorley. 136; Lester Loops, 141; Scott Jensen, 148; Spencer Bryant, 154; Dayne Gardner, 168; Kenneth McKnight, 178 and Dale Rider, unlimited. Three of these men particlpat-ed particlpat-ed In the state meet last year. Gardner is a state champion of the 1956 squad. He won the state title in the 156 pound class and this year in lnter-region matches is undefeated. He is wrestling in the 168 pound class this year. Region Winner Bryant Is a regional winner of last year and a participant In the state meet. He wrestled in the 149 class last year and this season sea-son Is in the 154 division. Henrle was second In the region in 1956 and participated In the state meet. First and second place winners in the regional contest can par-1 par-1 ticipate in the state class B finals to be held at the University of Utah next week. Only three of the schools In the region Cedar. Delta and Millard have participated In pre-eglon meets. However, it is not known at this time how manv schools In th reclon will participate. According Ac-cording to Norton If more than three schools partlcloate It will make It necessary for some of the fighters to fight as many as three bouts in the single day meet. Until Tuesday morning of this week plans had been laid to hold the region meet In Cedar City. A rulirg handed down by the Regional Reg-ional Athletic Board Tuesday changed the location from Cedar to Fillmore. Changed from Cedar It was explained that according accord-ing to the rotation of the meet Delta was slated to host the meet this year. However, because of inadequate facilities Delta asked Cedar to hold the meet, which they accepted. The change In location lo-cation came after Coach Norton had made somewhat extensive arrangements for the event here in Cedar City. Region 10, comprised of schools from Delta south on Highway 91 and Valley and Kanab on 89, Is reputed to be the strongest in the class B ranks in the wrestling program. The three schools already al-ready mentioned have always played a prominent part In this sport in years past. They are, Cedar, Fillmore and Delta. One big disadvantage Is the fact that a number of top men in the state are eliminated In the Region Ten meet because of the I keen competition. |
