Show Pcirk Superintendent Discusses Programs At Zion, Kolob, Breaks Three principal projects are scheduled at Zion National Park for completion before the end or the National MISSION 66 program pro-gram for development of the national na-tional parks, Frank R, Obcrhans-ley, Obcrhans-ley, superintendent of Zion National Na-tional Park told members of the Kiwanis Club Monday evening. With increased emphasis on camping facilities a complete new campsite is being developed at Zion Park, the superintendent stated. A complete new unit, the campground will be located across the Virgin River and will include 180 campsites. This has become necessary because be-cause of the tremendous increase of camping activities throughout the national park systems, he said. Secondly the new road into the Kolob area is expected to be completed under the MISSION 66 program. A camping area in the higher regions of the Kolob area Is also on the agenda for MISSION 6 6 development, Oberhansley stated. Also in charge of Cedar Breaks National Monument, Oberhai.r-ley Oberhai.r-ley stated that he anticipated that visits to that area will double dou-ble with the completion of the new loop road this coming year. With a history of long service In the national park service, Oberhansley Ob-erhansley also showed a series of slides taken from the various parks in which he has served during his career. Slides covered the Yellowstone National Park, Hawaii National Park, Sequoia National Park and then Zion National Park where he has been assigned since I960. |
