Show Utah Construction Mill Official Has Technical Paper Published T. R. ERSPAMER "Magnetic Benefication Utah Iron Ores," is the caption of a feature article appearing recently recent-ly in the trade magazine "Skil- lings' Mining Review." Written by T. R. Erspamer, the techincal paper is a description of beneficiation plant Installations Installa-tions at the Utah Construction and Mining Co. operation just West of Cedar City. Erspamer is mill superintendent superintend-ent for Utah Construction and is a native of Hurley, Wis. He graduated grad-uated from the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy in 1951. Prior to joining the Utah Construction Con-struction force in Cedar City in January, 1961, he had been affiliated af-filiated with Klskands Mathers and Co. at Hibbing, Minn., district dis-trict office and at the Danube, Tioga No. 2 and Mahoning mines on the Mesabi iron range. In 1958, he was transferred to Erie Mining Co., Lakes, Minn., where he was operating assistant in the ore dressing department. Prior to publication of. the paper pa-per it was presented by Erspamer Ers-pamer at the Western Mining Congress in Denver, Colo., in February of this year. Mr. and Mrs. Erspamer and their sons are members of Christ the King Catholic Church of Cedar Ce-dar City and they reside at 372! South 500 West. Basic history of mining in the Pinto-Iron Springs mining district, dis-trict, Is described In the prper. He points out that "During late 1956 and early 1957 a pilot (beneficiation) (ben-eficiation) plant was constructed by UC near the plant facilities at Iron Springs. Our metallurgical research laboratory personnel carried out an extensive test program pro-gram to determine the amenability amena-bility of iron ores from this district dis-trict to beneficiation." He continues that "as a result of the pilot plant test program the decision was made in 1960 to construct a commercial beneficiation bene-ficiation plant at Iron Springs. The design department of U S provided the engineering and the erection of the mill began in August 1960 under the direction of the construction division. The mill was placed in operation during dur-ing April 1961." The complete operation of the , mill, is detailed in the technical paper. |
