Show ( Southern Utah Guardsmen Prepare For Annual Two-weekSummer Camp Twenty-five officers and 315 enlisted men of the 2d Howitzer Battalion, 222d Artillery of the Utah National Guard will leave Sunday to participate in the annual an-nual encampment at Camp Williams Wil-liams at the Jordon Narrows In northern Utah. According to Lt. Col. Max S. Dalley, battalion commander, units un-its located at Cedar City, St. George, Beaver, Fillmore and Richfield will convoy to Camp Williams Sunday and return on Sunday, June 21. Battalion headquarters and headquarters battery of Cedar City includes 12 officers and 70 enlisted men. Firing batteries which consist of three officers and G5 enlisted men are located at Richfield and St. George. Fillmore Fill-more Is also a firing baticry, but approximately half of the men ar.e stationed at Cedar City with a special detachment under the command of First Lieutenant Van Svi&i.nell, Captain James M. Miller Is commander of headquarters battery. bat-tery. Service battery Is located at Beaver and Includes four officers and approximately 50 enlistei men. The Battalion will go to the field Monday ard remain for exercises ex-ercises through Friday of the first week. They vill return for Camp for the annual Governor' Day Saturday before leiurning for battalion exerclcs at Dugway the following Monday. The battalion expects to fire approximately 500 rounds from the eight Inch self-propelled howitzers. Each of the three firing fir-ing batteries are assigned two of the howitzers. " |
