Show Rams Defeat Escalante, Make Tourney Plans The Parowan High School bas-ketta'.l bas-ketta'.l team posted its first victory vic-tory of the season on Saturday night, winning from the team from Escalante High School by a 40 to 14 score. On Friday night the Rams of Coach John Wood traveled to Henderson, Nev. and came oik on the short end of a 61 to 40 decision with the Basic High Wolves. In the game with Escalante, coached by Alan Worthen, the teams started out slowly with neither team doing much scoring scor-ing in the opening quarter. Coach Wood substituted during the game almost on a platoon system, sys-tem, giving all of his men an opportunity to get some experience, experi-ence, which resulted in the low score for the Rams while Escalante, Escal-ante, with an entirely new quintet, quin-tet, couldn't cope with the Ram defense. This week end the Parowan team takes part in the annual Iron County Tourney with the Rams and Cedar Redmen playing play-ing the Gunnison and South Sevier Se-vier teams. Play Friday will bei in Cedar City and tne action will shift to Parowan Saturday night. A detailed story on this tourney will be found on the sports page of this issue of the Record. Next week's play sees the Parowan Par-owan team entertaining the Enterprise En-terprise Wolves in the PHS gym on Friday night, and then going to Cedar City Saturday, Dec. 23 for a return game with the Red-men. Friday Dec. 29 the Rams meet the Basic Team from Henderson in a return game on the Parowan floor and on Saturday, Dec. 30 they travel to St. George for a game with the Dixie Flyers to complete the practice game series. ser-ies.
