Show I Rotary Wins 3 in American League Milne 4 ' 800 Rotary 4 1 .800 Webster 2 3 .400 Kiwanis 0 5 .000 The Milne Truckers were dumped from the undefeated ranks Monday evening in the American Little League when Rotary pounded out hits for a 11 to 4 win behind the pitching of Wynn Isom. The loss to Milne and the win by Rotary put the two squads into a tie for first place in the league with a four win and one loss record. I American League continued to sparkle with hitters taking the limelight with 11 home runs Masted throughout the five-game week from Wednesday evening to Tuesday evening. That followed follow-ed a 12 home run opening week for a total of 23 in 10 games. Rotary made it the hard way this past week with wins over each of the other three clubs. In addition to the all important win over the Milne crew Rotary, also blasted Webster Coal 21 to 5 then downed Kiwanis 18 to 5j before meeting the Truckers. Isom was credited with two of the wins. He defeated Milne and also Webster Coal and collected a total of 24 strikeouts In the two games, as well, plus an average of one home run each game. Webster and Milne also came up with victories, although they both lost to Rotary. Webster downed Kiwanis by a score of 25 to 16 and Milne literally outlasted outlast-ed Webster's Friday evening in. a 29 to 21 marathon. This total score of 50 runs sets a new record re-cord for .the Little League in Cedar City. Other home runs during the week were collected by Gaylen ! Heyborne, Brent Johnson and Ijames Feldt of Rotary; Gerry Roberts homered for Kiwanis and Steve Lunt put two out of the park against Webster Coal and Dick Clyde collected one during the week for a total of threc second best in the league to date. Last week we failed to credit Pete Grimshaw of Milne who had homered during that period. |
