Eivind T. Scoyen, associate Director Di-rector of the National Park Service, Ser-vice, will be prinicapl speaker. Mr. Scoyen will be remember as the first superintendent of Zion. The Five County Organization under the chairmanship of Merrill Mer-rill MacDonald Is sponsoring the program which will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the audio-visual room of the new building. Through the years the Five County Coun-ty Organization has supported the National Parks in southern Utah and has been Instrumental In promoting tourist travel anj obtaining badly needed facilities facili-ties to assist them in enjoying their stay in this scenic land of color and towering cliffs. The Utah Parks Company, long time concessioner in southern Utah National Parks will also play an important role in making this occasion a memorable one for those attending, according to Manager T. E. Murray. The new developments at Zion National Park are a part of the Mission 66 program. This program pro-gram is a long range program designed to provide adequate facilities for the ever Increasing number that visit our National Parks each-year, along with the necessary personnel to manage, maintain, interpret and protect those priceless heritages. Superintendent Oberhansley and Chairman MacDonald have Issued invitations to the heads of various agencies and civic groups throughout the State and urge those who have received letters of invitation to spread the word that everyone is invited to attend this ceremony which is so significant to southern Utah. |
