Show UTAH FOUNDATION REPORT Utah Per Capita Income Below US Average Utahns' percapita personal income in-come in 19M was $1,930, compared compar-ed with a national average of $2,242, according to an analysis of US Department of Commerce figures released Wednesday by Utah Foundation, the private re- j search organization. j This was an increase for, Utahns of $82 (or 4.42 percent 1 1 over percapita personal income o 195!), and an increase nationwide of $83 (or 3.84 per cent). Utah's percapita personal income in-come of $1,930 total personal income divided by the population popula-tion was $131 below the mountain moun-tain slate's average of $2,0G7 and $509 below the western states' average av-erage of $2,505. Utah ranked 32nd among the 50 states, but of the 18 states with lower per capita income, 12 were in the South. Although percapita income in Utah is below the US average, the economy of tne state during recent years has been growing at a faster rate than that of the nation as a whole, the Utah Foundation report pointed out. One reason is that Utah's figures are lower than those for the na-Ition na-Ition so a similar dollar increase I means a greater percentage in-'crease in-'crease for the Beehive State. Total personal income in Utah last year was $1,733,000,000 an increase of 6.7 per cent over 1959. US total personal income increased in-creased 5.5 per cent during 19G0. Between 1955 and 19(10, total personal income for Utahns rose 40 per cent, compared with a national na-tional increase of 31 per cent. During the five-year period, percapita per-capita personal income increased 21 per cent for Utah, compared with only a 20 per cent increase nationwide. On the basis of US figures of 3.C2 persons per household in Utah, the average income per ! household in 10 was $7,008.
