College of Southern Utah, coached by Cleo Petty, must be ready for the first conference game on the local field that has been set for Friday, April 13. Un- Jess weather conditions take a turn for the better It may be a black Friday the 13th. Coach Petty has about 25 men working out on the campus, but so far, most of the workouts have been confined to the CSU field-house field-house because of adverse weather conditions. Tuesday evening ihe squad moved to the local diamond, dia-mond, which Is undergoing some renovation, for the first real batting bat-ting practice. From all present indications two newcomers to the practically practical-ly all new squad, will be called call-ed on for most of the mound duty. They are Roger Ditlevson and Burke Johnson. Steve Lunt, a Jetterman from last year, will also see some action on the mound. Other pitchers who have been' working out and who will probably pro-bably see at least some action this season will be Russel Dur-fey, Dur-fey, Bob Vest, and John Clyde. Clyde also is trying out for first base. Petty Indicated that the ICAC schedule has been set up with games' on Friday, Apr. 13 and Snow on Sat. Apr. 14. However, the Snow game will probably be postponed because of conflict con-flict in scheduling on the Snow College campus. |
