The most beatltlftU-fluIlt designed by the children was put on frames to be quilted by the mothers. The quilt blocks were designed and painted by the children of the school. Also in the center of the quilt is a painting of the schoool done by Mlrmiam McGarry. Above and to the side of the school are paintings paint-ings done by P-TA president Edna Thorley; Don Applegate. principal; princi-pal; Mrs. William's first, secnd aad third grade teacher and Mrs. Mamie Walters, head of the cafeteria. cafe-teria. All mothers are urged to come quilt their child's block. It is to be given away at a drawing draw-ing at a later date and the money is to go for much needt-d playground equipment for the school. On Wednesday evening March 38, a general council meeting was held by the Escalante Valley Val-ley Coordinating Council. Plans pertaining to building, fire truck, .etc. were discussed. Also a list ! of committee chairmen was giv-en giv-en as follows: Park and building build-ing committee, Bruno Biasi; -ScbooJ committee, Edna Thorley; Agriculture' committee, Al Ped-erson; Ped-erson; Roads committee, Otto Fife; Fire department committee commit-tee John A. McGarry; Television committee, Bryner Wood. On Friday, Mar. 30, the Escalante Escal-ante Valley School held an Easter East-er egg hunt and picnic at Old Iron Town. A large crowd attended at-tended and there was plenty of food for ail. Some 200 eggs were hidden earlier in the day for the school and pre-school children Prizes donated by Lund's Store at Modena, Otto Fife's Crossroad: store and Wood's Service were distributed to those holding thf lucky numbers. Grand ehamplor winner was little Tommy Anza lone who won a real live whitf bunny. Tommy was so proud Ik hung onto his Easter bunny al' day, I Sunday being Easter most of the residents enjoyed services at church, either in the morning or the evening. Rev. Boss of Ce dar City presented a lovely program pro-gram in the evening with songs by his family, and a beautiful sermon. At Sunday School In the morning, lovely Easter baskets filled with chocolate eggs were a wonderful surprise for the children.. chil-dren.. Easter seemed a little early this year for picnics and outings out-ings but In spite of the snow the Pedersons and the David Loves enjoyed a rather cool but beauti-ful beauti-ful Easter at Zlon. Tiny flakes fell at Zion but despite that fact many people were picnicking a.'l around us. And the trees were crowded with blossoms In Dixie. It was indeed a change from the wind and bad weather in Escalante Escal-ante Valley. The Thompsons spent the day with the Barlows for a delicious dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Ray V. Hunt have received word of a grandson born to Mr. and Mrs. Russell Hunt of Cheyenne, Wyo. They have another an-other son, Kevin. |
