Show Redmen Baseball Hopefuls Prepare for Series Ray Englestead and 18 members mem-bers of his Cedar High School baseball team are working out each evening under adverse conditions con-ditions in preparation for the Region Re-gion Six baseball schedule which eets under wav for the Redmen' on April 12. The schedule as already drawn up wiU probably be revised this week end, Englestead said. Ka-nab. Ka-nab. which originally planned to participate in baseball has now withdrawn from the sport. Delta, on the other hand, is contemplating contemplat-ing on entering the league to make it Region-wise. As near as possible Delta will probably lust assume the place in the schedule previously occupied by Kanab. However, some corrections may be necessary. The baseball park on 300 East and 200 North, usually used, has been undergoing some changes and is not available for play at the present time. For this reason Coach Englestead and his boys have been working out on the football field Just west of the school. His team Is composed mostly of sophomore and junior students with only two seniors on the IS-man IS-man roster. The seniors are GayJe Simklns, a catcher, and Clayton Petty, first base and outfield. At the present time eight boys are working out for mound duty and although all of them might not see too much action, Engln-stead Engln-stead wants relief available If he needs It Mike Frame, a Junior, who did a considerable amount of mound duty last year for the Redmen, will probably be the number one chucker. Others include Ray Endsley, who was out of action last season because of a knee in-Jury; in-Jury; Jon Isom, who also did some work on the mound last seaon; Sheldon Sargent. Bevan Corry, all Juniors, and Nell Petty, Pet-ty, Charles Cox. Art Pryor from the sophomore class are presently present-ly working out. Several boys' are trying out for the other battery spot In addition addi-tion to Slmkins, Travis Nelson, Cox. Ronnie Adams and Pety might see some action as catchers.. Endsley. In addition to work-In? work-In? on the mound, will work a bit at first base along with C Petty. Second base aspirants' Include In-clude Jimmy Quinn, Nejson and Sargent At third. Jon Isom Is working out In addition to his mound duties, and Alex Rollo a sophomore Is also after the post. Shortstop position Is practical -lv cinched with Reed Hevwood. a Junior, one of the best glove men Englestead has this season. ' Outfielders Include Bevan Corry,-- Kenneth ., Jones. . Richard Cripps and Don Robinson with pryor likely to see some action In the field as well. |
