Show State Ford Foundation Director Spends Day In Conference with Parowan High Faculty Mr. Rowan C. Stutz, Utah Director Di-rector of the Western States I Small Schools Project, spent & full day working with the Parowan Paro-wan High School faculty on their Ford Foundation Project. The workshop was spent in evaluating evaluat-ing the flexible scheduling program pro-gram being carried on at the school and projecting next steps. The study has as a major fo- I cus, strengenthening of the good qualities of small high schools and implementing new procedures proce-dures that will improve the program pro-gram such as addition of new classes. According to Max S. Dalley, Dal-ley, principal of the school, they are able to offer ten classes more this year than were offered previously. pre-viously. The work In scheduling has enabled the staff to eliminate elimin-ate some of the conflicts that existed with the old schedule and they feel it hau Improved the total program. It was Indicated at the workshop work-shop that teachers and the majority ma-jority of students like the ;iew schedule, but it was found that the change has increased the teacher load due to the addition of several new courses. It was indicated by Thomas J-Abplanalp, J-Abplanalp, Director of Curriculum Curricu-lum of the Iron County School District, that Mr. Dalley and his teachers are to be commended for the outstanding Job they are doing in working to improve the education offerings of the school and building a better learning situation for the students. |
