Show Three Utah Women to Participate in "Esther Peterson Day" at College of Southern Utah Three prominent Utah women will participate in "Esther Peterson Peter-son Day" activities at College of Southern Utah. Thursday, March 28. Mrs. Algie E. Baliff, MrsJ Edna S. Cannon and Mrs. Betsy F. Vaught will assist with work- j shop sessions scheduled during the afternoon and will be special guests of the college at other events of the day including an 11 a. m. student assembly and an 8 p. m. meeting in the CSU Auditorium to which the public is invited. Mrs. Peterson, Assistant Secretary Sec-retary for Labor Standards and Director of the Women's Buieau for the United States Depaitment of Labor, will visit CSU as part of a cross-country tour. A native of Provo, Mrs. Peterson taught at Branch Agricultural College, forerunner of CSU, from 1927 to 1929. She has devoted her working work-ing life to education and the labor la-bor movement, having taught for 12 years and served in many labor positions including Assistant Assis-tant Director of Education for the Amalgamated Clothing Workers Work-ers of America, the Union's Washington Legislative Representative, Repre-sentative, advisor to the Women's Bureau and member of the Dis trict of Columbia Minimum Wage Board for the laundry industry. in-dustry. Mrs. Baliff resides In Provo and represented District Three in the Utah State House of Representatives Repre-sentatives from 1959 to 19G3. She is active in the Utah Federation of Women's Clubs, the Women's Legislative Council of Utah, Delta Del-ta Kappa Gamma and is a member mem-ber of the Education Committee for President Kennedy's Commission Com-mission on the Status of Women. She has served five terms on the Provo School Board and has been state president of the Utah School Board Association. Mrs. Cannon, now living in Circleville, Piute County, was a former resident of Cedar City and taught at Cedar City Junior High School. She is a member of the state Board of Education and teaches French, English and algebra al-gebra at Piute High School. She has earned her Doctor's degree and is active in civic and church work. Mrs. Vaught is a former student stu-dent at CSU and was chairman of the first prom at the college. She is a native of Beaver, Utah but now resides in Salt Lake wiicjc aiic la jjitrjuiiajiuiaiiig and promotions director for KCPX television station and Is studying study-ing toward a law degree at the University of Utah. While attending attend-ing Beaver High School she represented re-presented the state and region in Washington D. C. at the finals of the "I Speak for Democracy" oratorical cbntr t.
