Show Former Resident Dies In Balboa Island Funeral services for Helen Hal-lett Hal-lett Hargrave, 84. of 314 Grand Canal, Balboa Island, were held Tuesday in the Balboa Island Community Methodist Church with Rev. David Walker officiating. officiat-ing. Burial followed in Harbor Rest Cemetery, Costa Mesa. Mrs. Hargrave, who died Saturday Sat-urday at her daughter's home, was born on the Island of Saint Helena, aboard the whaling vessel, ves-sel, "Niger," out of Nantucket Rhode Island. Her father was the historically famous Captain Thomas Hallett of the Spanish American war. She married Leonard Hargrave in 1900 and they lived on a ranch Just outside of Cedar C ity through the thirties until they moved to Balboa Island in 1941. She was a member and Sunday teacher at the Cedar City Presbyterian Pres-byterian Church during her residence. resi-dence. She leaves two sons, Hall of Cucamonga and Thomas of Lo-mita; Lo-mita; two daughters, Jane Hun ter of Balboa Island and Esther Duke of Los Angeles; a sister, Myra Critchlow of San Francisco; 6 grandchildren and 16 greatgrandchildren. |
